At least one man was wounded, TV news footage showed. He was being carried away in a stretcher. Officials said there have been no claims of responsibility. The city of Kandahar had been considered relatively safe. However, in recent weeks there have been a number of attacks in Kandahar province. U.N. personnel were told to stay home for the day. U.N. officials refused to speculate on who might be behind the blast. Local authorities said coalition forces would help investigate the incident.
