FORT WORTH, Texas (CNN) -- A severe weather system spanning 140 miles of Texas spawned at least three tornadoes that touched down Saturday in remote Haskell County, according to the National Weather Service's office in Fort Worth.

"They've all died for the night, gone to sleep, they'll wake tomorrow and start it all over again," meteorologist Joe Harris said of the tornadoes.

The tornadoes touched down in open farmland, and the only reported damage was a car hit by flying debris, Harris said. There were also reports of baseball-sized hail south of Haskell.

All of the tornadoes probably came from the same weather system, Harris said.

Although the damage was minimal, the storms attracted tornado chasers and news crews from as far as Oklahoma City, about 200 miles northeast of Haskell.

At 7:20 p.m. [8:20 p.m. EDT], a "multiple vortex" tornado touched down about eight miles south of the town of Haskell.

Harris said a multiple vortex tornado consists of more than one funnel.

"You can count as many as three of 'em," he said. "They do a 'do-si-do' around each other, like a dance."

He said he expects more tornadoes to move into the area Sunday afternoon.

"It takes daytime heating to get 'em going," Harris said. "At 3, 4, 5 in the afternoon, they'll brew up around the dry line," which he described as the storm's frontal boundary.
