VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia (CNN) -- Televangelist Pat Robertson said Thursday that he has prostate cancer and will undergo surgery next week to remove his prostate gland.
Robertson, 72, made the announcement on his "700 Club" television program.
Doctors said the cancer does not appear to have moved beyond the prostate, he said, and they expect him to be back on a full schedule by the beginning of March.
Robertson's announcement came a day after John Kerry, presidential candidate and senator from Massachusetts, had surgery at Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, to remove a cancerous prostate. (Full story)
