LIVERPOOL, England -- Michael Owen could be fit in time for Liverpool's FA Cup clash with third division Yeovil Town on Sunday.
The England striker has been out since suffering a torn thigh muscle in Liverpool's UEFA Cup win over Steaua Bucharest in November.
"Michael has had a scan and is doing a lot better now," said Liverpool coach Gerard Houllier.
"As soon as he can train he will train. We will see how he is before Yeovil but I would not totally rule out the possibility of him being involved at this stage."
Owen's return would be a huge boost for the struggling Anfield club, who have fallen 20 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United.
But Liverpool will definitely be missing captain Steven Gerrard, who picked up a thigh injury in his side's 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Sunday.
