Feyenoord sack technical director
ROTTERDAM, Netherlands -- Feyenoord have sacked their technical director and announced that coach Bert van Marwijk will leave at the end of the season.
Rob Baan, responsible for scouting and purchasing players, was dismissed on Monday.
The Rotterdam giants are currently fourth in the Dutch league, nine points behind leaders Ajax.
"The reason for his departure is that we have different opinions on how his purchasing policy has gone so far and because there is too little faith within the organization about it for the future," said Feyenoord chairman Jorien van den Herik.
Feyenoord said it would begin talks with candidates to replace van Marwijk as soon as possible.
"I continue to be totally motivated to let this team finish as high in the standings as possible, and then I'll look for a new challenge."
