Perugia charge into cup last eight
ROME, Italy (Reuters) -- Perugia reached the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup on Tuesday with a comfortable 3-0 win in the second leg of their tie against Chievo Verona.
The Umbrian club trailed 2-1 after the away leg and are yet to win a match in Serie A this season, but put their poor league form behind them.
Midfielder Chris Obodo gave them the lead two minutes before half-time and Souleymane Diamoutene and Jay Bothroyd completed the win.
Obodo's breakthrough goal came when he headed powerfully in from a corner.
In the 61st minute defender Diamoutene hooked in the rebound after Chievo keeper Giorgio Frezzolini saved Zisis Vryzas's close-range shot.
Ex-Coventry City striker Bothroyd completed the victory six minutes later, firing low past Frezzolini.
The remaining last 16 matches are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.
