Besiktas face UEFA misconduct rap
LONDON, England (Reuters) -- UEFA are to charge Turkish club Besiktas over the crowd disorder at Tuesday's Champions League match against Chelsea in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
European football's ruling body said on Thursday Besiktas would be charged with improper conduct over the behavior of its fans over the lighting of flares and missile-throwing.
The game, won 2-0 by Chelsea, was held up for several minutes after Turkish fans threw toilets rolls and other objects on to the pitch.
UEFA's official Web site said its Control and Disciplinary Body would consider the matter at its next hearing on February 21. The game was played in Germany due to security concerns following the spate of recent bombings in Turkey.
