Matthaeus reportedly Moscow bound
BELGRADE, Serbia and Montenegro -- Former German star Lothar Matthaeus will leave Partizan Belgrade and move to Russia to become coach of CSKA, media reports claim.
Quoting "reliable sources" in Moscow, the Sportski Zurnal daily said that Matthaeus signed a three-year, six million euros deal with the Russian side.
Partizan crashed out of European competition after a 1-1 draw against Olympique Marseille on Tuesday and filled bottom spot in their Champions League group with three points.
Matthaeus took charge of Partizan at the start of the year and it is not clear when he will be moving to Moscow.
But the report said that champions of Serbia and Montengro, Partizan, will need a new coach for the spring part of the season.
The financial details of Matthaeus' one-and-a-half year contract with a one-year extension option were never revealed.
