TURIN, Italy -- David Trezeguet with two first half goals led Juventus to a Champions League record 7-0 victory over Olympiakos in Turin to seal top spot in Group D.
The French international struck in the 14th and 25th minutes with Fabrizio Miccoli, Enzo Maresca Marco Di Vaio, Alessandro Del Piero and Marcelo Zalayeta also on target.
Real Sociedad took second spot as Oscar de Paula scored their equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Galatasaray.
Juve had already qualified for the second phase but after three straight defeats in Serie A and Europe they showed no mercy as they ripped apart a woeful Greek defence.
After Serbian striker Predrag Djordjevic had forced a save out of Juve keeper Antonio Chimenti in the 10th minute, last season's Champions League runners-up took control.
Trezeguet put them ahead in the 14th minute with a simple tap-in after being set up by midfielder Maresca.
Five minutes later, Miccoli worked some space for himself inside the area and fired a low, left-foot shot past Dimitris Eleftheropoulos to make it 2-0.
A straightforward counter-attack provided the third with Maresca releasing Miccoli who slipped the ball into the path of Trezeguet who converted another straightforward chance.
It was 4-0 in the 28th minute with once again the Olympiakos defence being opened up with unnerving ease.
A long ball forward from Igor Tudor found Miccoli on the left flank and his shot was parried out by Eleftheropoulos but Maresca crashed home the loose ball.
But Juve were in no mood to settle for 4-0 and the outstanding Miccoli was unlucky not to have a second goal when his shot hit the far post, rolled across the line and came out off the other upright.
Trezeguet was injured in his attempt to convert the rebound but the arrival of Di Vaio in his place merely meant more trouble for the hapless Greek defence.
The Italy international made it 5-0 with a first-time strike in the 62nd minute and then he set up fellow substitute Del Piero to make it six from 10 metres out just moments after replacing Miccoli.
The only striker who had not found the target was Uruguayan Zalayeta and he put that right with a firm header from a Maresca corner in the 79th minute.
Sukur early strike
Galatasaray, needing a win to pip Real Sociedad for runners-up spot behind Juventus and a place in the last 16, took the lead after 26 minutes when Sukur converted from a Berkant Goktan pass.
Sociedad, fighting to keep their debut Champions League campaign alive, surged forward and eventually claimed the equalizer six minutes after the break through de Paula.
The home side managed to keep Galatasaray at bay for the rest of the game, with only a couple of desperate punts forward in the final couple of moments hinting at a comeback from the Turks, who had to settle for a place in the UEFA Cup third round.
Sociedad went into the game still smarting from a 4-0 home defeat by Real Betis in the Primera Liga, a result that left them in the relegation places, but they were immediately back in their more assured European form against Galatasaray.
Needing just a draw to go through, Raynald Denoueix's side took control of the midfield from the start, with Xabi Alonso and Igor Gabilondo both in eye-catching form.
The Galatasaray defence had to look lively to clear two free kicks from dangerous positions on either side of the field in the opening 10 minutes, and Valery Karpin and Nihat Kahveci combined to create further chances soon afterwards.
Real came within a whisker of taking the lead on 25 minutes, when Gabilondo drove over a corner from the left.
Galatasaray keeper Faryd Mondragon misjudged the cross and Xabi Alonso powered a header towards goal, only for Sabri Sarioglu to acrobatically clear off the line.
Within a minute, Galatasaray were ahead as Berkant slipped a pass through for Sukur to take the ball on and chip reserve keeper Alberto, in for the injured Sander Westerveld.
Sociedad created half a dozen scoring chances in the following 10 minutes, with Nihat missing the best of them when he flashed a shot just wide from Gabilondo's through ball.
The equalizer came early in the second half when Alonso floated a free kick to the far post. De Paula, taking advantage of a slight slip from the covering defender, took two touches to control the ball before calmly placing a shot beyond Mondragon.
Crucially, Sociedad maintained their control in midfield for the remainder of the game and hardly allowed Galatasaray a chance to break forward.
The closest the visitors came to claiming the win they needed was in the first minute of injury-time, when substitute Cihan Haspolatli beat two players on a run into the area, only to see his dangerous low cross well claimed by Alberto.
