Torpedo appoint Petrakov as coach
MOSCOW, Russia (Reuters) -- Valery Petrakov has been named as coach of Russian side Torpedo-Metallurg Moscow.
He replaces Alexander Ignatenko, who was sacked last month despite saving the struggling club from relegation.
Petrakov, 45, who last season almost guided first division Tom Tomsk into the top flight, is widely regarded as one of the most promising coaches in Russia.
Tor-Met just avoided the drop by beating city rivals Spartak Moscow on the last day of the league season.
Meanwhile, the coaching merry-go-around in Russia's top flight continued with 52-year-old Vitaly Shevchenko, who was sacked by Saturn Ramenskoye with five games left in the season, being appointed at Rostov.
The former Soviet striker took over at Saturn last December after quitting fellow premier league side Torpedo Moscow.
Torpedo-Metallurg and Rostov became the sixth and seventh premier league clubs to change coaches since the end of the season a month ago. Another, Spartak-Alania Vladikavkaz, are also looking for a coach.
Three big Moscow clubs -- champions CSKA, Spartak and Dynamo -- have appointed foreigners to the job.
