AMSTERDAM, Netherlands -- Mateja Kezman scored four goals, including three in a seven-minute burst, as PSV Eindhoven crushed FC Volendam 7-0 to put leaders Ajax under pressure at the top of the Dutch first division.
The Serbian striker began the rout on 12 minutes, hitting the post and then knocking in the rebound.
He added three more tap-ins soon after half time. Jan Vennegoor also scored twice and John de Jong completed the scoring.
PSV's win moved them to just one point off the lead, although Ajax have a game in hand.
Kezman's four goals took his season tally to 15, and he was substituted soon after his fourth to save his strength for PSV's Champions League clash with Deportivo Coruna on Wednesday.
"The goals might have been tap-ins but you have to be in the right place," Kezman said.
"I haven't been top fit but I'm 100 percent ready for Wednesday, there's no doubt about that."
In other matches on Saturday, Utrecht beat Willem II 2-0 to climb to fifth and NEC Nijmegen drew 1-1 with RKC Waalwijk.
Sander Keller and Hans van der Haar got the goals for Utrecht while Serginho Greene's last-minute strike salvaged Waalwijk's point after Rob Wielaert scored for Nijmegen from the penalty spot.
