Cruz seals first leg win for Inter
MILAN, Italy (Reuters) -- Inter Milan's Argentine striker Julio Ricardo Cruz continued his impressive form with two more goals as Inter came from behind to beat Reggina 2-1 in an Italian Cup second round first leg tie on Thursday.
David Di Michele put Reggina ahead on 56 minutes with a well-taken goal after beating two Inter defenders before Cruz, who scored twice in Saturday's 3-1 win at Juventus, pulled his side level with a curling shot from the edge of the area.
The former Feyenoord and Bologna striker then converted the winner from the penalty spot in the 75th minute after he had been brought down by Giandomenico Mesto.
A first half goal from Marco Delvecchio gave Roma a 1-0 home win over Serie B side Palermo in their first leg match.
Palermo's defense failed to clear a freekick and after being set up by Christian Panucci, Delvecchio slotted home the winner from close range.
The Sicilian side, pushing for promotion to Serie A, will take heart though from an impressive performance at the Olympic Stadium which leaves them still with a chance of progressing.
Earlier Chievo Verona beat Perugia 2-1 at the Bentegodi stadium -- Giuseppe Sculli put Chievo ahead after 15 minutes only for Ferdinand Colly to equalize for Perugia.
Ivone De Franceschi grabbed the winner for Chievo with a nicely weighted chip four minutes from the end.
