Viana planning to leave Newcastle
NEWCASTLE, England -- Portuguese midfielder Hugo Viana plans to leave English Premier League Newcastle United in the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old signed from Sporting Lisbon in July 2002 but has played only 100 minutes this season in occasional appearances as a substitute.
"I don't feel well physically or mentally. My last two matches were dreadful. I have got to find another club if I want to play in Euro 2004," said Viana.
"Any club will do. I only want to play football," he added.
Viana is keen to get first-team football to win a place in the Portugal side for next summer's Euro 2004 Championship finals.
