Poland prevail in seven-goal clash
PLOCK, Poland, (Reuters) -- Poland beat Serbia and Montenegro 4-3 in an entertaining friendly on Sunday, their second win in four days following a surprise 3-1 victory over Italy.
Goals from strikers Andrzej Niedzielan and Grzegorz Rasiak on 27 and 30 minutes gave them a 2-0 halftime lead.
Lazio midfielder Dejan Stankovic pulled a goal back for the Serbs with a deflected free kick in the 70th minute but Kamil Kosowski capped a fine performance with a strike from the edge of the box three minutes later.
Zvonimir Vukic again cut the lead in half, but Maciej Zurawski netted a fourth for the Poles, before Ivica Iliev struck late for the Serbian third.
Both Poland and Serbia and Montenegro failed to qualify for Euro 2004 after finishing third in their qualifying groups.
