Turks go ahead with playoff game
RIGA, Latvia -- Turkey will go ahead with their Euro 2004 playoff game in Latvia despite the blasts that ripped through two synagogues in Istanbul earlier in the day, leaving at least 15 people dead.
Latvian Foreign Ministry spokesman Rets Plenums said: "The game is still on." He added that a minute's silence would probably be observed before the game.
"The Latvian Football Federation is now working with the Turkish side to decide together on how to honor the victims," he said.
The two teams, meeting for a place in next year's tournament in Portugal, are due to kick off the first leg in Riga at 2015 local time (1815 GMT), with the return in Istanbul on November 19.
