Happy Kluivert removes quit threat
MADRID, Spain -- Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert has shelved any thoughts of leaving Barcelona after fans gave him a rousing reception during the 2-1 victory against Real Betis at the Nou Camp on Sunday.
The striker said last month that continued criticism from Barca supporters could force him to quit the Catalan club -- but he was given a huge cheer when he replaced the injured Ronaldinho after 20 minutes.
Kluivert received an even bigger roar of approval after he scored his first league goal of the season when he bundled home his side's opener three minutes before half-time.
"I'm really happy at having scored," said Kluivert who has been linked with English Premiership Newcastle. "But the best thing of all was the reception from the fans.
"When I stepped on to the pitch I felt very comfortable and all I can say now is that I'm not thinking of leaving."
The win pushed Barca up into fourth place in the Primera Liga, four points behind Real Madrid and Valencia and six adrift of leaders Deportivo Coruna.
