Kanoute faces a two months lay-off
LONDON, England -- Tottenham striker Frederic Kanoute could be sidelined for up to two months after damaging ankle ligaments at the weekend, the Premier League club said. Frenchman Kanoute was injured in a stoppage-time tackle by Leicester midfielder Muzzy Izzet having scored a 90th minute winner in Spurs' dramatic 2-1 win. The latest scan on the ex-West Ham player's injury confirmed bruising on the bone of his left ankle and some ligament damage. "It's disappointing news but hopefully the estimate of two months is a maximum," caretaker manager David Pleat told the club's official website on Thursday. "Obviously it's a real blow because Fredi's been in splendid goalscoring form but we have to look at it as an opportunity for other players to come in and show what they can do." Kanoute was philosophical about his injury saying: "The timing is a blow because it was going well for me. But it could have been worse and I've just got to be patient."
