Rostock coach Veh has stepped down
ROSTOCK, Germany -- Hansa Rostock coach Armin Veh stepped down on Monday 24 hours after the team lost 3-0 at Bayer Leverkusen and fell to 14th place in the Bundesliga, extending the team's worst start in club history. Rostock have five points from eight matches and have suffered four straight defeats. "We were completely surprised," claimed Manfred Wimmer, chairman of the club. "From our point of view, there was no reason to question Armin Veh's work. We accept his decision, but we would have gladly continued our co-operation." The 42-year-old Veh became the second Bundesliga coach to leave his post this season following Ewald Lienen's sacking by Borussia Moenchengladbach. A former player at Moenchengladbach, Veh took over in Rostock in January 2002 and had less than two years left on his contract. Rostock said assistant Juri Schluenz takes will take over as caretaker until a new coach is found.
