Dyer can trigger Newcastle revival
NEWCASTLE, England -- Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson hopes the improved form of Kieron Dyer can spark the rest of his team out of their early-season slump. Struggling Newcastle, who finished third last season, entertain Southampton at St James' Park on Saturday lying 19th in the 20-team Premier League with just three points from six games and are still without a league win this season. Dyer normally plays in central midfield for Newcastle but has been asked to operate on the right wing due to Nolberto Solano's injury. "Kieron has run into a bit of form and that will be very important to us over the next few weeks, but it's important that everyone else runs into form too," said Robson. "It won't be down to one player but I have to say that he has been quite a revelation on the right wing. "Against Arsenal we looked lethargic for the first 20 minutes but then Kieron gave us a little bit of impetus by creating our first equaliser and then the teams were well matched. Robson is urging his players not to repeat the individual errors that have cost them dearly so far, including in that 3-2 defeat at Highbury last Friday. He added: "We lost in the cruellest of ways, because their three goals came from errors. They were stupid goals. We have to look forward but hopefully, we can erase personal errors and defend better in the penalty area." French winger Laurent Robert misses the game through suspension while England defender Jonathan Woodgate is out after having surgery on a double hernia. *Barclays have secured title sponsorship of the English Premier League after agreeing a three-year deal worth $95.19 million, officials said. Barclays will take over from their credit card business Barclaycard, who have been backers since 2001.
