Petrova No. 1 for Canberra Classic
CANBERRA, Australia -- Russian French Open semifinalist Nadia Petrova is the top seed for next month's Canberra's Women's Classic WTA tennis event.
The 21-year-old is currently ranked No. 12 in the world.
Argentina's Paola Suarez is seeded second for the Australian Open warmup event, which starts on January 11.
The other seeds are: Italy's Silvia Farina Elia, Tamarine Tanasugarn from Thailand, Hungarian Petra Mandula, Emilie Loit of France, Spain's Maria Sanchez Lorenzo and Marlene Weingartner of Germany.
