Deneriaz leads downhill practice
VAL GARDENA, Italy -- France's Antoine Deneriaz was quickest in practice for Saturday's World Cup downhill in the Italian Dolomites.
The defending downhill champion set a leading time of one minute 55.01 seconds on the Saslong course, where he claimed his first World Cup victory.
American Bryon Friedman, on his first season on the World Cup circuit, was second fastest, 0.28 seconds behind.
Austrian veteran Fritz Strobl was third, with teammate Hermann Maier back in 15th place.
Thursday's session determined the starting order for Saturday's race, which follows a Super-G on Friday.
