SPECIAL REPORT

BRISBANE, Australia -- Scotland coach Ian McGeechan has shuffled his back row for Saturday's Rugby World Cup quarterfinal against Australia.

Jason White will start at blindside flanker, replacing Ross Beattie who started Scotland's last match against Fiji. Simon Taylor and Cameron Mather swap places, with Taylor moving from openside flanker to the back of the scrum and Mather moving to the side.

Former British Lions lock Scott Murray comes onto the bench.

McGeechan said White, who appeared as a replacement in the 22-20 win over Fiji, had been chosen for his superior running skills.

"We want a ball carrier and Jason played very well when he came on last week and it helps keep the balance we want in the backrow," McGeechan said.

McGeechan opted to stick with the new-look backline that started against Fiji, with Chris Paterson at flyhalf and Gregor Townsend at outside center.

Scotland: 15-Glenn Metcalfe; 14-Simon Danielli, 13-Gregor Townsend, 12-Andrew Henderson, 11-Kenny Logan; 10-Chris Paterson, 9-Bryan Redpath (captain); 8-Simon Taylor, 7-Cameron Mather, 6-Jason White, 5-Stuart Grimes, 4-Nathan Hines, 3-Bruce Douglas, 2-Gordon Bulloch, 1-Tom Smith.

Replacements: 16-Rob Russell, 17-Gordon McIlwham, 18-Scott Murray, 19-Jon Petrie, 20-Michael Blair, 21-James McLaren, 22-Ben Hinshelwood.
