Argentine World Cup pair are cited

MELBOURNE, Australia (Reuters) -- Argentine props Mauricio Reggiardo and Roberto Grau have been cited for dangerous play against Ireland on Sunday, World Cup organizers said.

Both players were cited by independent citing commissioner Douglas Hunter.

International Rugby Board (IRB) spokesman Chris Rea said the details of the incident would not be made public until after a disciplinary hearing.

Under the rules of the tournament the citing commissioner can cite a player for foul or dangerous play if in his opinion it warranted the player being sent off.

Ireland prop Reggie Corrigan was replaced in the 57th minute of the game, which Ireland won 16-15, after appearing to suffer a facial injury.

Corrigan later said that there had been an incident in a forward exchange but he did not elaborate.

Grau and Reggiardo will appear before judicial officer Bruce Squire at a date and time to be decided, organisers said in a statement.

The regulations under which both players have been cited deal with "acts contrary to good sportsmanship."
