LONDON, England -- Three of the year's four major winners head the field for next month's World Match Play Championship at Wentworth, organizers said.

British Open champion Ben Curtis, U.S. Masters winner Mike Weir and Shaun Micheel, who lifted the U.S. PGA Championship, are among 12 men chasing a $1 million first prize.

U.S. Open champion Jim Furyk and world No. 1 Tiger Woods are unable to appear because of prior commitments.

South African Ernie Els defends the title he has won four times in his career, with 1997 champion Vijay Singh of Fiji and Denmark's Thomas Bjorn, joint British Open runners-up, also taking part.

German Alex Cejka, Swede Fredrik Jacobson, Americans Chad Campbell and Len Mattiace, Australian Stephen Leaney and South African Tim Clark complete the line-up on the West Course from October 16-19.
