LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- The lone cast holdout on the hit sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond" will return to work on the series this week after CBS agreed to increase his salary, a network representative said Tuesday.

Brad Garrett, who plays the jealous brother to the character played by series star Ray Romano, began a salary standoff nearly two weeks ago when his representatives said he would not report to work on the show's upcoming eighth season without a raise.

Last May, Romano signed a deal making him the highest-paid actor in television, with a nearly $50 million paycheck for the season, in addition to profit participation.

Garrett's contract called for him to receive about $150,000 per episode, significantly less than the mid-six-figure salaries earned by supporting cast members on other top-rated comedy series like NBC's "Frasier" and "Will & Grace."

Details of Garrett's new contract were not released. He is expected to return to work Wednesday, the representative said.

Garrett won last year's Emmy Award for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series. Romano and co-star Doris Roberts, who plays Romano's meddling mother, also won Emmys for the show.

Garrett's role as policeman Robert Barone grew in importance last season, which ended with his character getting married.
