Britney Spears: 'Trust our president in every decision'
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A gum-smacking Britney Spears told CNN Wednesday that she has never before kissed a woman and never would again -- unless the woman is Madonna. The pop star exchanged a prolonged, open-mouth kiss with the Material Girl during MTV's Music Video Awards show last week. She discussed the kiss, the war in Iraq and other topics with Tucker Carlson, co-host of CNN's Crossfire: CARLSON: I was reading the Star. I know you haven't seen this, but in here, there's a picture of you coming out of a restaurant grabbing your stomach and it made me think are you shadowed all the time? SPEARS: Wait, what? CARLSON: Picture of you, 'A stuffed Britney Spears holds her stomach like anyone would after eating lunch.' SPEARS: I guess my food must have been really good for me to do that. CARLSON: Do you see photographers following you all the time? SPEARS: Yes. It's not all times. Kind of in L.A., there's usually a lot of photographers and stuff but when I go to London it's not as bad. It's kind of -- it's cool when I go overseas. I can escape a little bit. CARLSON: You went there after the kiss. Give me the chronology of the kiss. How did you decide to kiss Madonna? SPEARS: Actually, in rehearsals it wasn't something like 'This is what we're going to do.' It was kind of like we play around a little bit and she said before the performance, let's just feel it out and see what happens. I didn't know it was going to be that long and everything, but it was cool. CARLSON: Had you have ever kissed a woman before? SPEARS: No, I have never kissed a woman before. CARLSON: Would you again? SPEARS: Would I again? No! I would not do it. Maybe with Madonna, but... CARLSON: That's it. You're going to stay true to Madonna? SPEARS: Yes, Madonna. CARLSON: What does your mom think? SPEARS: What does my mom think? CARLSON: Yes. SPEARS: She thinks it was cool. She liked the performance. She knows it's about performing and it's not like, you know, so. CARLSON: How do you think your fans who followed you from your days in the -- as a Mouseketeer up until now, are they happy with the change in your image? SPEARS: I mean, honestly, it's about me just performing and expressing myself and I think when someone sees you up on stage having fun and you're fulfilling your dream they're inspired by that and that's what matters. CARLSON: So you don't notice any shift in the way you present yourself three years ago as sort of the example of clean living and do you think that's changed? SPEARS: I think I'm still clean living. That's -- I mean I don't go home and have orgies or anything like that. I'm still the same person I've always been. CARLSON: You're going to be on the National Mall [in Washington, D.C.] soon performing for Pepsi and the NFL and also to support our troops. A lot of entertainers have come out against the war in Iraq. Have you? SPEARS: Honestly, I think we should just trust our president in every decision he makes and should just support that, you know, and be faithful in what happens. CARLSON: Do you trust this president? SPEARS: Yes, I do. CARLSON: Excellent. Do you think he's going to win again? SPEARS: I don't know. I don't know that. CARLSON: You worked with Pepsi for a long time. Candidly between you and me, how much Pepsi do you think [you drink] on an average day? SPEARS: I really do like Pepsi. CARLSON: Really? SPEARS: I really do. CARLSON: What's your favorite kind? SPEARS: My favorite kind of Pepsi? Pepsi's Pepsi. CARLSON: You don't drink Diet Pepsi. SPEARS: No, just regular Pepsi. CARLSON: What are your favorite shows on television? SPEARS: My favorite shows on it television? "Sex and the City," definitely. "Sex and the City." "Friends," of course. And I like these reality shows on MTV now. I think it's very humorous to watch the new Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey show ["Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica"] and "The Wade Robson Project." CARLSON: Do you watch a lot of CNN? SPEARS: Oh, CNN. All the time. All the time. CARLSON: I knew I liked you Britney. SPEARS: You know. CARLSON: Are you going to make another movie? SPEARS: I would love to. CARLSON: Do you have any plans in the near future? SPEARS: Right now I'm kind of just really focusing on my music, but seriously I would love to do -- I would love to do a musical. I would love to do it all. CARLSON: You said you're thinking about moving to London. Why? SPEARS: It's the one place that I feel completely anonymous and I just like the way they treasure everything. Everything's very simply done. And, you know, the milk man still comes to the door. You know, and I like the simplicity of that. I think that's very cool and I don't know. CARLSON: Do you feel like your life is too complicated? SPEARS: Too complicated? Sometimes it's a little, you know, but I think there's just an energy there that's very cool.
