(InStyle) -- What does Jennifer Garner do when she's not kicking butt on her hit television series "Alias"? Currently, she's kicking the butts of Ben Affleck and Colin Farrell on the big screen in "Daredevil" (based on the Marvel Comics character created in 1964).

Garner portrays Elektra Natchios, a wealthy Greek woman who is both good and evil. She's on a crusade to kill Daredevil, not knowing that he is also Matt Murdock (both played by Affleck), the man she loves.

As for dressing this dual character, associate costume designer Lisa Tomczeszyn didn't have any problems. "She's a beautiful girl to dress, and she wears clothes really well." Yes, even with three-pronged daggers, flying harnesses and wires.

Hair

Garner's hair was made noticeably longer with a three-quarter wig to match the length of her comic book character's.

For her softer daytime look shown here, hairstylist Michael Reitz began by adding Senscience True Hue to Garner's wet hair. He then blow-dried it straight with a Paul Mitchell paddle brush.

Next, the hair was divided into quarters and curled in half-inch sections with a medium-size curling iron, working from the nape of the neck to the top of the head. Reitz ran his fingers through her curls with a small amount of John Frieda Sheer Blonde Golden Opportunity (a cream that minimizes frizz and separates the hair).

The sides of her hair were then pulled back and secured with a Blax elastic. "She loved the look," says Reitz.

Makeup

Makeup artist Deborah LaMia Denaver first moisturized Garner's face with Murad Environmental Shield Day Moisture SPF 15. Then with a sponge she applied Tony & Tina foundation in Aphrodite and Apollonia on the face and the line's Therapeutic Eye Base on the lids.

Next, she brightened the cheeks with Stila Convertible Color in Peony and finished with Bourjois Pastel Teint molded powder in Peche O3. "Elektra's eye makeup was exaggerated but left as natural and bright as possible," says Denaver.

She used MAC eye shadow in Arena and Motif with a spot of Stila Convertible Eye Color in Clove on the center of the lids. She then lined the outer and inner corners of the upper lash lines with MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy. Several coats of black mascara were added to lashes for fullness.

Garner's lips were kept simple by combining Christian Dior Cherry Blossom lipstick and Senna Lip Lacquer in Bella.

Clothes

"We wanted the wardrobe to express the chicness available to a person with the kind of money she had, without being designer-conscious," says Tomczeszyn, who says it was important to Garner that the clothing have a street sense to it. Tomczeszyn didn't stick to one designer and often mixed it up by pairing a no-name, inexpensive T-shirt with Chloé pants and Gucci boots.

Dressed for a romantic encounter with Affleck, Garner is shown here wearing a Dolce & Gabbana jacket with a red Body by Silk camisole underneath.

Besides her sexy, body-conscious black pleather fighting outfit, she doesn't have a lot of wardrobe changes, but look for her in a cool Puma workout suit, a sexy Dolce & Gabbana black suit and Manolo Blahniks, of course.
