LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Animal trainer and magician Roy Horn, in critical condition since being attacked by a tiger during an October 3 performance, has been transferred to another hospital from University Medical Center in Las Vegas for further evaluation, his manager said on Wednesday.

One source familiar with the matter said the co-star of "Siegfried & Roy" was at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. But UCLA said it had no patient listed under that name.

"Roy was transferred from UMC to another medical facility for further evaluation. All of us in the Siegfried & Roy family are encouraged by his remarkable will and progress during this challenging time," Horn's manager, Bernie Yuman, said in a statement, thanking staff at the Nevada hospital.

Horn was still in critical but stable condition, a spokesman said.

The trainer was attacked by a male white tiger during a performance on his 59th birthday. The cat grabbed Horn by the neck and dragged him off stage, nearly killing him.

The Mirage hotel, owned by MGM Mirage, has closed the show and it is not clear how far Horn will recover physically.

Steve Wynn, the casino entrepreneur who build the Mirage and hired the famous duo, said earlier this month that Horn did not sustain any permanent brain injuries and was able to squeeze with his right hand.
