Tribute to slain actress Clarkson

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Some 250 friends and family of Lana Clarkson gathered to pay tribute to the actress found slain earlier this month at the mansion of record producer Phil Spector.

The service Sunday, held at the Henry Fonda Music Box Theater in Hollywood, featured clips from Clarkson's cult classic "Barbarian Queen", as well as home videos of the actress riding horses as a child.

Friends of the actress also sang original songs they'd written for her.

"It was a very warm and loving ceremony," said her agent, Ray Caveleri. "Everybody that she knew considered her their best friend. She was very unique in that area."

Police discovered Clarkson shot to death February 3, in the foyer of Spector's castle-like estate in Alhambra.

Spector, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, was arrested on suspicion of murder and posted $1 million bail. Arraignment was scheduled for March 3.

Clarkson, 40, was a success within the exploitation movie world. The beautiful, tall, blonde and buxom actress was discovered by director Roger Corman who cast her in the "Barbarian Queen" and its sequel. She represented the character at comic book and pop culture conventions and Corman said the character was the model for TV's "Xena: Warrior Princess."
