(InStyle) -- When Julia Roberts wore a pale pink halter dress and Gwen Stefani donned a one-shoulder pink-tinged gown, it confirmed what the fashion cognoscenti already knew: Not every bride wants to wear white.
Other popular colors on the wedding scene include lavender, baby blue and gold, reports Diann Valentine, who planned Toni Braxton's nuptials.
"Brides should go with what looks good on them," she says. "Gold on dark skin is incredibly beautiful." (Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier both offer non-white gowns in their ready-to-wear lines.)
