(CNN) -- One of three New Jersey teenagers charged with planning a shooting spree in a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, suburb last summer was sentenced to five years in a juvenile facility Friday.
Cody Jackson, 15, who also pleaded guilty in October to carjacking, will serve his time in a youthful offender facility that is part of the New Jersey state prison system.
Prosecutors said Jackson was one of three teenagers who planned to hijack a vehicle, execute three classmates and then kill people at random throughout the borough of Oaklyn, New Jersey, just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia.
The plot unraveled July 6 when the teens were arrested after a botched carjacking attempt.
Police said they were armed with rifles, shotguns, swords, knives and about 2,000 rounds of ammunition.
Last month, Superior Court Judge Samuel Natal dismissed murder conspiracy and aggravated assault charges against Jackson and allowed him to plead guilty to the carjacking count, said Bill Shralow, a spokesman for Camden County prosecutor Vincent Sarubbi.
On Tuesday, Matthew Lovett, 18, who police said was the plot's mastermind, pleaded guilty to carjacking. Under his plea agreement, Lovett will receive 10 years in prison when he is sentenced in February. He will have to serve at least 8 1/2 years before being eligible for parole.
The third member of the group, Christopher Olson, 15, of Oaklyn, pleaded guilty in August to possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose as part of a deal with prosecutors to drop carjacking and conspiracy charges. Those could have led to a 40-year prison sentence.
Olson was sentenced last month to four years without the possibility of parole for the first three years.
