BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Reuters) -- The IMF is concerned about whether Argentina is negotiating its $88 billion defaulted debt in good faith, a person close to the negotiations says.
The International Monetary Fund, a global lending agency, has also raised issues regarding progress with bank reforms and utility tariffs, the person said Tuesday.
"There are some concerns -- whether there is good faith in debt negotiations, about progress with bank sector reform and progress with the utilities," the source told Reuters on condition of anonymity.
An IMF mission is on a visit to Buenos Aires to air the concerns.
A volley of belligerent anti-IMF rhetoric from President Nestor Kirchner raised tensions just as the fund must decide whether to approve its first review of a $12.6 billion loan program.
