NAGOYA, Japan, (Reuters) -- Toyota Motor Corp., the world's third-biggest automaker, says it expects its global group-wide auto sales next year to rise 4 percent to a record 7.08 million vehicles.

Japan's top auto maker expects the group, which includes minivehicle maker Daihatsu Motor and truck maker Hino Motors, to have sold an estimated 6.78 million in 2003.

For the Toyota brand only, it expects to sell 6.33 million vehicles, up 4 percent. It aims to sell 1.76 million cars in Japan next year, a gain of 2 percent.

Toyota shares jumped sharply higher Thursday, closing up 3.5 percent to 3590 yen.
