Bush leaves Camp David early

White House has no explanation

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush left the presidential retreat at Camp David, Maryland, Sunday afternoon and returned to the White House a day earlier than had been scheduled.

Bush had planned to remain at Camp David through the federal holiday Monday that marks the birthday of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

White House officials offered no immediate explanation for the change in plans.
