For sale: Cookie, slightly usedLIVERPOOL, England -- Cookies which are chewed before baking have gone on sale at a British art gallery. The plain biscuits, which come in their own presentation pack, are the work of German artist Angela Dorrer. She makes her own dough before pulling off a cookie-sized lump and using her teeth to mould it into shape. The chewed-up dough is then baked for 15 minutes and served up as a piece of art which she sells for £18 ($28) each. Dorrer, 33, displays her cookies at galleries and invites visitors to eat one in exchange for a written comment about how it made them feel. An exhibition of her work, including the cookies, opened in Liverpool, England, on Friday to mixed reactions. The Munich-based artist told the Press Association: "Some people think it is wonderful and others tell me it is disgusting and I am wasting my life. "For some men, the saliva is sexual to them and they ask for my phone number. "I don't take anything personally because a person's reaction, whatever it is, becomes a part of the art. That is why I do this." |
