Man with gun arrested at Hartsfield

Airport spokeswoman: Flights not affected by incident

ATLANTA (CNN) -- A man was arrested Thursday as he attempted to pass a security checkpoint with a gun at Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport, authorities said.

The man was on his way to pick up his mother and said he forgot that he was carrying the gun, according to police at Hartsfield.

The man was arrested at 8:30 a.m. EDT, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and is being held in the Clayton County Jail, said Yolanda Clark, an airport spokeswoman.

The airport was not shut down and flights were not affected, she said.
