Coast Guard vessel, pleasure boat collide near Miami, Florida

MIAMI BEACH, Florida (CNN) -- The U.S. Coast Guard said Sunday it was investigating a collision between one of its rescue boats and a 65-foot pleasure boat.

Several people were injured in the incident Saturday night near the Port of Miami.

Two Coast Guard crew members who were conducting a routine boating safety patrol were ejected from their 24-foot vessel and made it to shore. Both petty officers sustained minor injuries and were transported to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach.

Nine of the 53 passengers aboard the Bayside Blaster, a commercial passenger vessel, complained of minor injuries. Three of the injured civilians were taken to South Shore Medical Center in Miami Beach.

"Thankfully, it appears everyone involved escaped serious injury," said Lt. Cmdr. Ron LaBrec, public affairs officer for the Seventh Coast Guard District.
