Native American activist Russell Means has filed suit to get his name on the ballot as a third-party candidate for New Mexico governor. Means argues his 1975 felony conviction for his role in a courthouse riot should not disqualify him from public office.

Means took part in 1969 occupation of Alcatraz Island by Activists with the "American Indian Movement."
