Bush to attend Olympics Opening Ceremonies

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush will travel Friday to Salt Lake City, Utah, to meet with the U.S. Olympic team and participate in Opening Ceremonies for the 2002 Winter Olympics, White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said Wednesday.

Upon arriving Friday afternoon, the president and first lady Laura Bush will visit a Utah Olympic reception and then greet U.S. Olympic athletes.

In the evening, the president will give an 18-word statement in the Opening Ceremonies, Fleischer said.

Bush will travel to Utah after making a speech in Denver, Colorado, at the cattle industry's annual convention and trade show.

After the Olympics ceremony, he will travel to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where he will spend the weekend at a private residence.
