Army paratroopers injured in accidentBy CNN National Security Producer Chris Plante WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Thirty-two U.S. Army paratroopers were injured in Germany Thursday during a training exercise involving a large-scale parachute jump at the Grafenwhor training facility, Army officials told CNN. Ten of the 32 were injured seriously enough to require hospitalization. The other injuries were limited to "twisted ankles" and other minor injuries, the Army said. The jump included some 400 U.S. troops from the Southern Europe Task Force based in Vincenza, Italy, the Army officials said. Officials reported no fatalities. The jump took place in daylight, about 6 p.m. local time. ![]() |
