July 3 Tuesday midnight -- Rebels abduct 21 police recruits from Rolpa district in western Nepal. They also raid a police post in Kusum village in Baanke district (also in western Nepal) and kill two, including a girl, and abduct 13 which includes 11 policemen, one policeman's wife and a child.

Altogether, 34 persons abducted and not yet found. Police still searching.

July 4 Wednesday morning -- Rebels set off explosion in front of Prime Minister and Chief Justice's residences in Kathmandu. No one injured. Damage to property.

July 5 Thursday morning -- More than a dozen bombs found dangling from electricity poles in several areas of Kathmandu Valley, including in the capital Kathmandu and adjacent towns of Patan and Bhaktapur. Police defuse all. No injuries.

Maoists also take responsibility for the bombs and hang effigies of new king and prime minister whom they allege of conspiracy in the June 1 royal murders.
