Apple lowers price of G4 Cube
![]()
(IDG) -- In what appears to be a further attempt to move excess fourth-quarter inventory, Apple has lowered the price on its 500MHz G4 Cube by $300 and has added a high-end model with more memory, a bigger hard drive and the Radeon graphics card. The $1,999 500MHz G4 Cube, formerly priced at $2,299, includes 128MB RAM, a 30GB hard drive, and ATI RAGE 128 Pro Graphics card. This system is available directly from Apple through the online Apple Store and from Apple authorized dealers as a build-to-order configuration. Buyers can add ATI's Radeon Graphics card for an additional $100. The new high-end 500MHz configuration, selling for $2,399, includes 256MB RAM, a 40GB hard drive, and an ATI Radeon Graphics card. It is available from Apple and Apple dealers. Apple resellers who buy only through national distributors cannot purchase the 500MHz models, just the 450MHz G4 Cube. However, high-volume dealers who deal directly with Apple can buy the high-end model already pre-configured and ready for shipment.
