'Sex and City's' Davis: 'I'd like to fall in love'RADNOR, Pennsylvania (AP) -- Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte on "Sex and the City," says she has one wish for Christmas. "I'd like to fall in love," she says in the December 8 issue of TV Guide. "It's been a while." Her wish is timely because she appears in the ABC Family film "Three Days" on December 9, playing a woman whose husband is so busy with work that he neglects her. Davis says she would like to fall in love before Christmas comes. "Life is short," she says. "That's what this movie is about: people and love and connection and what's really important in life." Dave Matthews dominates VH1 awardsLOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Dave Matthews Band led with four wins at the second annual My VH1 Awards, an irreverent fan-based ceremony honoring everything from the year's best song to the best display of a musician's bellybutton. Dave Matthews Band took home honors Sunday for favorite group, best fan-managed Internet site and their single "The Space Between" won the "Damn I Wish I Wrote That" award, which recognizes the song of the year. The group also won the "Must Have Album" award, defeating The Beatles' rerelease disc "1." "I feel a little bit ridiculous," Matthews said. "I've been listening to that 'No. 1' album by The Beatles and it kicks the crap out of our album, but it's still kind of you to vote (for us)." Other winners included No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani, who won for favorite female artist; Lenny Kravitz, who ended the show by performing a duet with Mick Jagger, won for favorite male artist; and the video for "Lady Marmalade," which won favorite video and sexiest performance. The categories and winners are voted on by an undetermined number of fans via the Internet. Organizers said votes were still being filed up to a few minutes before the individual awards were presented. Eric McCormack, star of the TV comedy "Will & Grace," hosted the event at the Shrine Auditorium, with singers Sting, Nelly Furtado and Mary J. Blige also among the live performers. Singer Jon Bon Jovi and guitarist Richie Sambora opened the show with a rendition of "Here Comes the Sun" in a tribute to former Beatle George Harrison, who died Thursday. Toni Braxton has babyATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- Award-winning rhythm and blues singer Toni Braxton has given birth to a 5-pound, 12-ounce (2.58-kilogram) boy, her spokesman said. The baby, born Sunday at an Atlanta-area hospital, was named Denim Cole Braxton Lewis and is the first child for Braxton and her husband Keri Lewis, of the Minneapolis-based band, Mint Condition. "Mom and baby are doing fine," David Brokaw said. Braxton, 33, who won her sixth Grammy Award this year, met her husband, a 28-year-old keyboard player, four years ago. Mint Condition served as her accompaniment when she opened for contemporary jazz saxophonist Kenny G on a nationwide tour. 'N Sync watches out for charityLAS VEGAS, Nevada (AP) -- Pop group 'N Sync has teamed up with a Swiss watchmaker to raise money for children orphaned by the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the group announced. Audemars Piguet has created 200 limited-edition watches that also will benefit needy children through "Challenge for the Children," 'N Sync's foundation. The 50 men's watches and 150 women's watches have been engraved with the signatures of 'N Sync's five members and will be priced at $8,500 and $5,900, respectively. "We want to help kids affected by the tragedy as much as we can," 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake said Sunday. Those who purchase one of the watches also will receive tickets and sound-check passes to an 'N Sync concert. The fund-raiser is expected to bring in $500,000, of which about half will go to start a children's scholarship fund that will be administered by the foundation, said Barry Klarberg, the band's manager. The Associated Press & Reuters contributed to this report. |
