'Survivor' host Probst turns director
From Allison Agston and Alesia Stanford (CNN) -- This is a story about Jeff Probst, a wallet, and James Earl Jones. One day, Probst was walking down a Los Angeles street and happened upon a lost wallet. Upon opening the billfold, all he found was the number of a person who was supposed to be a friend of the owner's. The guy told Probst to send it to him, and he did. The story doesn't end there. Probst pondered the exchange and started thinking the age-old question, "What if?" What if the wallet contained a lottery ticket? What if the "friend" wasn't a friend at all? What if the person who found the wallet had second thoughts?
The result of all these questions is Probst's directorial debut, an independent film called "Finder's Fee," for which he also wrote the script. Probst won a lottery of his own last year. Not only did the former entertainment reporter line up a gig as host of television phenomenon "Survivor," but award-winning actor James Earl Jones read the "Finder's Fee" script, liked what he saw, and signed on -- which gave the project instant credibility, says Probst. Producer Allison Agston and reporter Alesia Stanford filed this report about Probst's turn behind the camera. |
