Ryan O'Neal has leukemia

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Actor Ryan O'Neal has a chronic but treatable form of leukemia, his agent has confirmed to CNN.

Deede Binder said O'Neal, 60, is doing well. On Monday, he wrapped production on his latest movie, "People I Know," co-starring Kim Basinger and Al Pacino.

O'Neal came in prominence in the 1960s television series "Peyton Place" and was nominated for an Academy Award for his starring role in the 1970 movie "Love Story." He was also well-known as the former long-time companion of actress Farrah Fawcett.
