Police: Metairie student had 'hit list'

METAIRIE, Louisiana (WDSU) -- A seventh-grader at St. Benilde Elementary School in Metairie may face charges after an incident at the school on Monday, according to WDSU NewsChannel 6 reporter Ken Jones.

Police said that the 13-year-old had compiled a "hit list" of six other students that he said teased him.

The student showed the list, which he had been working on since October, to classmates. One of the students who saw the list told his parents, who then raised the issue at a PTA meeting, Jone said.

The student told investigators that he had no intention or plan to kill anyone, and police determined that he did not have access to a weapon.

After interviewing the boy, a clinical social worker deemed him fit to return to school. His parents, however, are keeping him at home, Jones said.

The case has been turned over to the Jefferson Parish district attorney's office for review.
