Explosion rocks northern Israeli town

CNN Correspondent Mike Hanna contributed to this report.

HADERA, Israel (CNN) -- An explosion in a northern Israeli town killed one person and wounded at least 20, according to Israeli radio, which said the blast occurred on the main street of Hadera, north of Tel Aviv.

No other details about the explosion were available.

Heavy black smoke was rising from the site after the rush-hour blast, the radio said, hindering rescue efforts.
