Scientists puzzle over huge ice balls falling on Spain
January 19, 2000 MADRID (CNN) -- Scientists in Spain are trying to clear up a meteorological mystery -- searching for the source of huge ice balls that have fallen on Madrid and other areas in the past week. They've ruled out hail and doubt the ice came from a comet or fell from an airplane.
