(IDG) -- Held once a year in Los Angeles, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (or E3 for short) showcases upcoming software and hardware offerings from the likes of Sega, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.
- Gran Turismo 2000 unveiled
Kazunori Yamauchi of Polyphony Digital, the "father" of the Gran Turismo series, unveiled Gran Turismo 2000 for the PlayStation 2, giving the crowd a detailed look under the hood at the next edition of gaming's most popular racing series.
- Acclaim catches PS2 wave with surfing
One of Acclaim's E3 surprises was the announcement of a surfing game for PlayStation 2.
- THQ to release 3 more wrestling games in 2000
THQ announced that they are going to release three titles, WWF No Mercy for the Nintendo 64 and GameBoy Color, WWF Royal Rumble for the Sega Dreamcast, and WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role for the PlayStation, this fall.
- No Dolphin until Aug. 25
Dolphin watchers should turn their gaze to Aug. 25 at Nintendo's Spaceworld (Shoshinkai) Show in Tokyo 'cuz Dolphin is not in the E3 house.
- Michael Jackson in Ready to Rumble: Round 2
You may have heard that Shaquille O'Neal will be a character in Midway's upcoming boxing sequel Ready 2 Rumble: Round 2, but here's one you didn't know...
- Sonic Adventure 2 impressions
Shown only in a special "theater" in the Sega booth, Sonic Adventure made its highly anticipated debut.
- Alien Front Line impressions
Tucked in the very back of the Sega booth and literally coming out of nowhere was Alien Front Line.
- Skating at E3
Everyone knows E3 is the Holy Land of videogames several days each year. Turns out it's a mini-mecca for skateboarders as well.
- Bleem! for Dreamcast unveiled
After dropping their black tarp of secrecy surrounding their booth, Bleem! unveiled a Sega Dreamcast version of their console emulation software.
- Sega's makin' some noise
If the PlayStation 2's the big news on the E3 showfloor and the X Box is the most talked about system that isn't here, you wouldn't know it by cruisin' the rockin' and rowdy Sega booth.
