Vice President Al Gore has lost ground to Bill Bradley in the past few days, as his "Iowa
bounce" has begun to wear off, according to a new CNN/USA Today/Gallup tracking poll.
Gore now has a 51 percebt to 43 percent lead over Bradley, down
from 57 to 39 percent a few days ago but virtually unchanged from the 50 to 45 percent margin on
the eve of the Iowa caucuses.
On the GOP side, the race remains a neck-and-neck contest, with John McCain at 36 percent and George W. Bush at 35 percent. The two are essentially tied, as they were in yesterday's poll figures, with neither man able to claim the top spot. Publisher Steve Forbes, whose support has grown by five points in the past few days, remains a distant third behind McCain and Bush.
The poll is based on interviews with 543 likely Democratic primary voters and 682 likely Republican primary voters. It was conducted January 26-28 and has a sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points unless otherwise noted.
